Eligibility Requirements

  • Application must be completed prior to interview and acceptance.
  • Rents are based on 30% of the household’s adjusted gross income from all sources.
  • Individual applicants must be 62 years of age or older. If a couple applies, one of them must be 62 or older.

  • Tenant must be capable of living independently in accordance with the terms of the lease.

  • Eligible tenants must meet the current HUD Income limits, and all applicable HUD guidelines. This includes, but is not limited to credit history, landlord history, and criminal and background checks.

Washington Square Apartments is subsidized by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) through the Section 8 subsidy program.  Tenants eligible under this program pay 30% of their gross monthly adjusted income.  All wages, social security, retirement or pension benefits and interest on savings or stock dividends will be considered as annual income.  Medical deductions is also taken into consideration.  A percentage of total household income will determine rent.  Each resident’s income will be recertified annually and rent may be adjusted.
